Healthful Elements: The Next Frontier

My gosh, Labor Day is behind us.

But I’d like to back up.

We had a brutal winter, nary a spring, and in May, I said to my husband, “I want a real summer. It’s going to go by so fast – I want to do lots of swimming, tubing, camping, hiking. You know, be kids again.”

Things didn’t shake out that way. We had a lovely week-long vacation in July, but no mini get-aways or time spent on Minnesota’s waters. I’m definitely not sporting the tan that I typically do come end of summer.

Am I disappointed? Not.one.bit.

“Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from.” – Seth Godin

In many ways, it’s been the best summer I’ve had in a long time. I’ve worked my ass off and I’ve loved (nearly) every minute of it. (And lest you think I’ve had little balance in my life, our Sweet Harriet, who is now 17 months old, continues to blossom and grow and amaze us – this is our first summer with a toddler and that in itself makes me feel like a kid. Motherhood makes me giddy.)

But yes, I’ve been tunnel-visioned and obsessive with Healthful Elements – driven by something much larger than myself. And I’ve had a wildly fun time. It’s been like being on a white water rafting trip sans the water and the raft.

Welcome to the reinvention of Healthful Elements: a brand new website, new coaches, and broader and deeper practice areas.

Getting to this point has been both challenging and rewarding – my head and heart are filled to the brim with excitement and possibilities.

We still have our core practice areas – hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s / autoimmunity, and adrenal dysfunction. But it had been my dream to expand beyond what I can offer as a sole coach – both time-wise as well as from a program / expertise perspective. And things started taking on a life of their own a few months ago. So I went with it. And here we are.

Much of this summer was spent meeting with our team of coaches – hours-long roundtables discussing all things hormones and ensuring we’re on the same page. Mind you, it wasn’t me preaching from the pulpit. Claudine and Jill C. are experienced and a wealth of information in their own right – they brought as much to the table as I did.

Can I just say – we totally geek out on this stuff. And after a few years running Healthful Elements on my own, it was – and will continue to be – a thrill to collaborate with these brilliant women.

You can read about us in more detail on our all-new website, but below is a summary.

Coaches and their areas of practice:
  • Me: hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s (and other autoimmunity), adrenal dysfunction, PCOS, perimenopause / menopause, gut rebuilding
  • Claudine: hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s (and other autoimmunity), adrenal dysfunction, gut rebuilding, and gut infections (think SIBO and H. pylori)
  • Jill C.: holistic strategies for natural, holistic fertility enhancement, with complete knowledge in how hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s (and other autoimmunity), adrenal dysfunction, and PCOS can affect a woman’s chances of conceiving
(Jill is on maternity leave and won’t begin coaching for several more weeks.)
Supportive roles:
  • Lisa is our resident thyroid- and immune-specific recipe writer and meal planner. We don’t quite have this program off the ground, but we have lots of exciting things in store for our clients as well as our readers.
  • Blair is our Client Services Coordinator and Social Media Manager extraordinaire.

What’s next?

Stay tuned for an Essential Thyroid Cookbook update, more about our upcoming teleclass schedule (you can participate from anywhere!), and more frequent blogging and newsletters. I’ll admit, I’ve not been the greatest at blogging and sending out newsletters, but we now have a team of people who not only have a lot to say and want to educate you, but will also help hold me accountable. :)

That’s all for now. Thank you for being a part of our community.

Hi Jill, I got your email. I would like to schedule a conversation with you. I read your info. I am a referral from Julia Baumann Sarver in Portland. I enjoyed my work with her.

But I need help with appetite, blood sugar crashes, anxiety eating mid afternoon, emotional reactions that lead to food.

I don’t exercise. I have gone through strong periods of exercise and then get off track. I’m off track now.  My perimenopause was very hard. I bled and bled to the point where I became anemic. My gyn got me through it without a hysterectory. What is wrong with my body?

My MS is controlled but there’s always a story with everyone and of course nothing is simple……ever.

I had acne for the first time in my life when I started having MS symptoms in my first pregnancy at 26. The hard rock-like acne that leaves scars if you aren’t careful. I have scars but its not too bad now that I have fewer emotional outbreaks….It was depressing. All three of my daughters also now have been diagnosed with MS. One has the PCOS diagnosis. All three struggle with weight.

So, this is why I need an expert in all these things. Please tell me the truth if these things combined are not your area….thank you karin

Karin,

Susan here, one of Jill’s coaches.  I’m responding for her as she is out of town on family business.  I’m so sorry for your health struggles.  I know Jill would be happy to speak with you.  I would suggest you go to our scheduler and find a time that would work for you to speak with her.  Go to https://www.schedulicity.com/ and schedule a Jumpstart session with Jill.  You can also access the scheduling site via this website under the Contact tab.  Warm Regards, Susan

A bunch of comments on this post got inadvertently deleted when we were doing some updates to our new website. Major bummer. We were feelin’ the love. :)
