I'm proud to be a part of this revolution. After a longer time than I want to remember of wanting to crawl under my desk for an afternoon nap, slow weight gain, little motivation for exercise, and foggy thinking, I started to take a hard look at what I was putting in my body. I got my hands on some sound nutritional information, which was contrary to what the media was feeding us at the time. It was then that things really turned around for me and I am now so privileged to help others with their health challenges. I am a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in New York, which is in partnership with Columbia University and is accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I am also a member of the Weston A. Price Nutrition Foundation. For more than 15 years, IIN has been at the forefront of holistic nutrition education, offering comprehensive, cutting-edge training that enriches minds, careers, and personal lives. Their revolutionary approach to education introduced me to a wide variety of dietary theories, from traditional to scientific, Eastern to Western, ancient to modern, and everything in between. Classes are taught by the biggest names in nutrition today, including Joshua Rosenthal, the founder and director of Integrative Nutrition, Dr. Andrew Weil, Deepak Chopra, Dr. Walter Willett, Dr. Barry Sears, Sally Fallon, Annemarie Colbin, and many more. (Used with permission of Institute for Integrative Nutrition.) In addition to teaching health and wellness classes on a variety of topics, I have a successful counseling practice with specialized knowledge in weight loss without deprivation and struggle, women's health, osteoporotic conditions, energy issues, candida, acidic conditions, and hypoglycemia and diabetes. I am also a farmhugger; I incorporate eating locally and seasonally into my program, as I believe it's the right thing to do for our health, the environment, and for our valued family farms. There's no doubt about it, holistic healthcare has gone mainstream. It's not a trend, but a movement that's steamrolling conventional medical practice. I'm proud to be a part of this revolution. |
