She’s Creating a Movement…
Today’s post is about something near and dear to my heart — and to the hearts of many, many of my friends and colleagues.
It’s no exaggeration that this could be the start of a revolution.
The topic of pregnancy and childbirth may seem a little “off topic” for us, but please, stick with me here, even if you’re not pregnant or looking to get pregnant.
Why? Because this could have a significant impact on someone you know — and on future generations.
So, I may not be very knowledgeable about childbirth, but for a few years, natural/holistic fertility enhancement was one of our practice areas. I took that page down from my website to get more laser-focused on other practice areas.
But Laine and I still very much support women in this capacity vis-a-vis helping them reverse their adrenal dysfunction, blood sugar issues, PCOS, and Hashimoto’s and other autoimmune conditions, all of which can impede fertility.
In fact, nearly half of our clients say that they want to manage these conditions — so that they can conceive.
For generations, pregnancy and childbirth have been viewed as “medical conditions” instead of normal biological processes. Birth is a rite of passage — not, in fact, a medical condition.
Additionally, for the last half-century, control over childbirth has been in the hands of doctors. Many pregnancy guidebooks are conventional, fear-based, or written by male physicians deeply entrenched in the medical model of birth.
But big change is afoot. This is where you, yes you, come in.
Genevieve Howland, aka Mama Natural, has created an inspiring, fun, and informative guide that demystifies natural pregnancy and walks mamas through the process one week at a time.
I don’t know Genevieve personally. And this isn’t an affiliate promotion.
But I know she’s the real deal because I’ve been following her for a long time and love her quirky, lighthearted posts about everything from being a “crunchy mama” to what your poop says about you to 101 uses for apple cider vinegar.
And with Genevieve’s help, a groundswell of women are taking back their pregnancies and births and embracing a more natural approach – which again, can have a significant impact on generations to come.
Her new book, The Mama Natural Week-By-Week Guide to Pregnancy & Childbirth, is available now via Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
As Genevieve said, “Imagine if we got our message into stores like Babies Я Us or even Walmart?!
“Moms who’ve never heard of ‘delayed cord clamping,’ ‘skin-to-skin contact,’ or ‘gentle cesarean’ could end up having very different (and empowered) births. And healthier babies, too!
“But in order to get into these retailers, we need to have a strong pre-sale and first week showing with this book.”
I’m asking you to please buy a copy of this book, even if you’re not pregnant or looking to get pregnant. Please support Genevieve’s mission to create this revolution of empowered women.
Your order will also benefit moms and babies in need, as 10% of book proceeds are donated to charities that support maternal and infant health around the world.
Genevieve continues, “It might sound silly to buy a pregnancy book when you’re not preggers. But think of this as a way to say ‘yes’ to the natural birth movement.”
By doing so, you’ll be saying “yes” to SO many beneficial practices that aren’t practiced in U.S. hospitals, one of which is allowing moms to eat and drink during labor, a practice banned in many hospitals for fear of interfering with anesthesia, yet considered unnecessary by the American Society of Anesthesiologists!
If you or someone you know cannot use the book, you could:
- Donate it to a local library
- Share it with a midwife, OB/GYN , or chiropractor, as these people are huge influencers
- Pass it along in a La Leche League or baby carrying group
- Give it to your church’s library
