Week 7 :: In Honor of the Rhinestone Cowboy

This post is in honor of the Rhinestone Cowboy, one of twelve children born in Arkansas to a sharecropper father.

I don’t have much to say about the farm today, other than picking green beans is kinda hard work. They’re low and hidden by fat leaves exactly the same color as the beans. So you need something to sit on.

On the way to the farm this morning, The Current was talking about Glen Campbell’s farewell concert tour, coming this fall. Yes, I’m usually honky tonkin’ to my own little classic country soundtrack, but today was a radio day.

Glen was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few months ago, and is planning the Glen Campbell Goodbye Tour this fall in support of the album, Ghost on the Canvas, due August 30. Jakob Dylan, Paul Westerberg, Chris Isaak, Brian Setzer, Bob Pollard, Dick Dale, Billy Corgan, and others are collaborators/songwriters for what will probably be one of the best albums of the decade.

We are losing another one of the last of the real country troubadours. The Current played the title track of the new album and I cried all the way to the farm.
