The Roundup: With a New Twist

The Roundup has a new add-on: holistic parenting. Even before I became a new mom, a lot of my clients who are parents of small children, were/are pregnant, or were/are seeking pregnancy asked me for resources on holistic parenting. And now that I AM a mom, people are asking me for all kinds of parenting advice.

I’m not an expert, folks! I’m learning as I go. And I wouldn’t say that I have one definitive go-to website for holistic parenting information, as I’m more of a book gal. But I try to keep my ear to the ground online and as helpful articles cross my radar, I take note. So I figured, why not share these with you? They’ll be posted at the end of each Roundup, so they’re easy to ignore if you’re not interested.

These posts won’t be age-specific. Our Sweet Harriet graduates this week from newborn-hood to infancy (she’s almost three months!), so many of the posts will be baby-centric, but I’m gathering information on all kinds of things related to children of all ages.

I don’t want to get into the vaccine debate, so please don’t use my Facebook page or blog as a battleground for this much-disputed issue. And please don’t ask me if I’m going to vaccinate my daughter –- I won’t have this conversation on a live platform. I will provide thought-provoking articles about things that all parents should consider before vaccinating, but I’m remaining publicly neutral on this matter. Again, my vaccine-related posts are for your information only and inflammatory or confrontational comments won’t be published on my blog. Thank you for your respect around this issue.

“There is a fourfold increased risk for dementia in diabetics.” – Dr. Mark Hyman

“Consider a few of the stomach-turning ingredients found in the typical feedlot animal diet: restaurant waste, animal byproducts, municipal garbage, bubble gum and poultry manure. When you eat factory-farmed products, you are taking in lots more crap (literally) than you bargained for.” – Dr. Frank Lipman from the article, 5 Reasons to Switch to Grass-fed Meat Right Now

“People are waking up and getting it –- that we are more than a collection of chemicals, and health is more than just good food and exercise, and that our collective pain around food and weight requires that we take a deeper dive. When did you wake up and ‘get it’?” – Marc David
