My New Thyroid COOKBOOK

I’m co-writing a Thyroid Health cookbook! I’m so excited I can hardly stand it. This idea was hatched at about 8:30 the night before one of my Fire Your Thyroid classes, as I was emailing with my very close friend and class participant, Lisa Markley.

I’ve known Lisa for several years and there is no better person to do this with. Lisa is a Culinary Nutritionist who specializes in cooking simple and delicious recipes featuring primarily plant based, whole foods and clean animal products. Over the past three years, she has taught over 100 cooking and nutrition classes to people interested in eating healthier and using food as the powerful medicine it is.

Our cookbook will be chock full of thyroid- and adrenal-nourishing foods and will have an educational component to it as well – not just the recipes, but WHY these foods are good for you and WHY there are certain foods that are no-no’s when you have an underactive thyroid and adrenal dysfunction.

Lisa was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s a couple of years after I was, has been a client, and also took part in my thyroid classes. So she’s a close friend first, client second, and now we’re co-writing this cookbook.

I got an email from her that simply said, “I’m ready to translate your recommendations to the plate. When you’re ready for me to co-write your Fire Your Thyroid Cookbook, just let me know.” And I don’t think she thought I’d fire back in three seconds and say, “Let’s go!”

Lisa is full of ideas, is a fantastic cook – I can speak from experience – and she’s already brainstorming recipes. At her current job at Whole Foods Market, she creates the weekly meal deal and writes a new menu every week. You can rest assured that our recipes will be free from white flour, white sugar and other highly processed ingredients and will be 100% gluten free. And ideas and substitutions for other potential food sensitivities (dairy, etc.) will be shared.

Our goal is to write and publish this cookbook in 2013, basically as soon as possible. So please stay tuned.
